This important deal between Club Atlético River Plate and Sorare is part of River’s brand’s international expansion strategy. By doing this, the institution will reach new audiences and regions. Besides, the deal implies a new revenue unit by creating a fantasy football license.

In Sorare’s Global Fantasy Football, collectors of River Plate cards and Fantasy Football players in general will be able to freely buy, sell, and play with the digital cards of all River squad members. Since the beta version launch in December 2019, Sorare has accumulated 60,000 users in 90 countries around the world.

River Plate fans in every corner of the world will have the chance to play with their favorite football players using their cards in the fantasy football team. A card’s initial number of points will depend on the player’s real performance on the field and will be updated according to his performance in matches and tournaments.

Argentina’s users are third in the world in terms of amount of time spent on the platform, approximately 70 minutes per day. Apart from that, in terms of number of members, they are eighth in the world, with an average monthly increase of 23% since the platform’s launch in December 2019.

Sorare"s CEO, Nicolas Julia, said: “We are happy to welcome River Plate. To have this legendary club, which has won the most local tournaments in Argentina, on board is an important milestone for the game as it continues to grow to become a truly global experience. By interacting with Sorare’s digital cards, River fans will be able to express their passion digitally and globally.”

More than 100 clubs from Europe, the Americas, and Asia have reached an agreement with Sorare to launch their team’s official license, among which are other great clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus, PSG, and Bayern Munich.
