Marcelo Gallardo’s team dominated throughout the match against Ciudad de Bolívar in San Luis and secured a 1-0 victory thanks to a penalty converted by Juan Fernando Quintero.

From the opening moments, River asserted itself in the opposition's half and began creating danger down the flanks through the forward runs of Gonzalo Montiel and Matías Viña. The first attempts were long-range efforts from Tomás Galván and Juan Quintero, while Ciudad de Bolívar threatened goalkeeper Santiago Beltrán with a right-footed cross-shot from Guillermo Sánchez.

From then on, it was all River. The team pushed forward with fluid passing combinations, as Quintero and Montiel linked up effectively in attack and produced clear chances, including a dangerous volley and header from the fullback following moves with the Colombian playmaker. Fausto Vera also came close with a shot cleared off the line. Near the end of the first half, Galván had another chance with a direct effort on goal, and a left-footed strike narrowly missed the target.

After halftime, Ciudad de Bolívar had a clear chance through Alex Díaz, but River quickly regained control. Quintero nearly scored with an individual play, Galván struck the crossbar, and Viña won an aerial duel only to be denied by goalkeeper Rufinetti. River continued pressing until the end, creating another dangerous header from Lucas Martínez Quarta. Finally, a late foul on Joaquín Freitas resulted in a penalty, which Quintero calmly converted to seal the 1-0 win.

Next in the Argentine Cup, River will face Aldosivi in the Round of 32. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the team will visit Vélez Sarsfield in Liniers for another matchday of the Apertura.
