River started owning the ball and linking good offensive plays with precision, but it had trouble getting to Cristian Lucchetti’s goal. The first two goal opportunities came almost together: first, a kick by Ariel Rojas headed to the goal bounced on a defender, and then Rafael Borré could not define the play because of a fast reaction of the rival’s goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Exequiel Palacios also tried with a kick that the goalkeeper blocked, and Atlético unsettled River with a clear one-on-one from Ismael Blanco, but the forward could not define it well, and the ball passed near Augusto Batalla’s left post.

During the second half, River came out determined to be superior, and it achieved it quickly: Milton Casco took advantage of a bounce in the area and scored the first goal with a powerful kick. After that, it all went in favor of El Millonario. Jorge Moreira was close to scoring the second, and Lucchetti stopped a shot from outside the area.

On the third attempt, River scored the second goal. Nicolás De La Cruz set up Carlos Auzqui, and he set up Rafael Borré so that the Colombian player could score the second goal. Right away, De La Cruz almost scored a third goal, and Exequiel Palacios kicked a powerful shot that almost exploded on the crossbar, but Atlético woke up, and Luis Rodríguez scored a goal.

After that, Yonathan Cabral’s header hit the crossbar, but Ismael Blanco drew the match after a pass by David Barbosa. Gonzalo Martínez had the goal of the victory, and Augusto Batalla became gigantic to block a kick by Blanco. Thus, the match ended with a draw that is not worth much to River.

On the next date, El Millonario will visit Talleres, from Córdoba, but before it will play against Atlanta on the Quarterfinals of the Copa Argentina and against Lanús on the Semifinals of the Copa Libertadores.
