River Plate drew 1-1 away to Independiente Rivadavia at the Malvinas Argentinas stadium in a match played this Monday, March 2, for the Apertura Tournament.

Just three minutes in, Ian Subiabre had River’s first clear chance of the match. He tried to curl his effort into the corner, but his shot went wide. The hosts responded with a dangerous move through Juan Manuel Elordi, only for Santiago Beltrán to rush off his line and deny him. River threatened again with Subiabre, but goalkeeper Nicolás Bolcato got down well to keep it out.

From a corner kick, Independiente Rivadavia took the lead through Gonzalo Ríos, who struck from outside the box to make it 1-0. Tomás Galván nearly equalized after a sharp move down the right by Joaquín Freitas, while at the other end Beltrán produced another outstanding save to keep out a header from Sheyko Studer. In the closing minutes of the first half, Gonzalo Montiel rose to power in Subiabre’s cross and seal the 1-1 draw in Mendoza.

After the break, River created a few chances through Freitas and Sebastián Driussi, although the second half lacked the tempo and intensity of the first. At the back, River was seldom tested as the contest ended 1-1 at the Malvinas Argentinas stadium.
