River traveled to Orlando, United States, where it will train for the toughest part of its pre-season and, in addition, it will participate of the Florida Cup, a friendly soccer tournament that has two formats: Challenge 2017 and Playoff 2017, where it will play against Millonario.
The Florida Cup Playoff 2017 is s single elimination tournament where there will only be one champion, whereas in the Challenge 2017 each team represents a country and plays for points. Estudiantes from La Plata will play this tournament.
The other teams playing in the Florida Cup Playoff along with River are Corinthians (Brazil), Vasco da Gama (Brazil), Barcelona (Ecuador); San Pablo (Brazil) and Millonarios (Colombia). The debut of the team coached by Marcelo Gallardo will be on January, Sunday 5that 4 pm (Argentine time), against Millonarios at the Bright House Networks Stadium (UFC). If they win, The Greatest will play on Thursday 19th against San Pablo at the Al Lang Stadium. The final will take place on Saturday 21st.
