River thrashes in La Plata to clinch qualification

With goals from Sebastián Driussi, Franco Mastantuono, and Rodrigo Aliendro, Marcelo Gallardo’s team eased past Gimnasia 3-0 to clinch qualification to the next stage of the Torneo Apertura.
River began a decisive run of games on the right foot, sealing qualification in the Torneo Apertura with a 3-0 victory in La Plata on Friday afternoon. With a strong team performance and standout individual displays, River earned a well-deserved victory over Gimnasia.
Sebastián Driussi opened the scoring late in the first half with a smart finish from a second ball off a free kick. Earlier, Franco Mastantuono had come close with a powerful left-footed strike, while Gimnasia responded with two efforts off the crossbar from Juan Pintado and Rodrigo Castillo.
River’s second goal was a moment of brilliance from No. 30, who collected the ball on the right, cut inside with clever footwork and dribbles, and placed it low to Nelson Insfrán’s left. Gallardo’s team stayed in control and added a third with a tidy finish from Rodrigo Aliendro, sealing a crucial win ahead of two big fixtures: away to Independiente del Valle in the CONMEBOL Libertadores, followed by the “Superclásico” at home against Boca Juniors on Sunday.
