River seals huge win in Rosario, on the final chance of the match

The team managed by Martín Demichelis claimed three crucial points in Rosario and is now leading more than ever: in stoppage time, on a counter-attacking play, Pablo Solari scored the winning goal.
The match was off to an intense start, with both teams having a clear game model. Newell’s had the first scoring chance on an attacking play that culminated with Cristian Ferreira alone, collecting the ball at the edge of the box, and striking a shot that went high over Franco Armani's goal.
River responded with an exquisite pass from Nacho Fernández to José Paradela: Lucas Hoyos ran quickly and was able to corner River’s No. 26, who failed to strike comfortably. On another attacking play by River, Paradela got in position to strike a left-footed shot from outside the box; the home keeper saved it on the ground.
In the first few minutes of the second half, Nico De La Cruz made a great pass to Agustín Palavecino, who collected the ball on the rival's half of the field, ran up the right side, but failed to complete the play. Before the 60th minute, the home team had two opportunities: a right-footed shot from Iván Gómez, which smashed against the crossbar, and a crossed left-footed shot from Jorge Recalde, which Armani comfortably saved.
Pablo Solari came onto the field and put Hoyos to the test with a right-footed shot, on one of his first chances. On another good play, Pablo Solari tapped the ball to Lucas Beltrán, who went one on one with the keeper, but Willer Ditta managed to prevent him from scoring. Newell’s also threatened River’s goal with a header from Recalde, which went just wide of the right post.
Toward the end, River had an unbeatable chance when Matías Suárez set up Solari, but the midfielder's cross was intercepted by Hoyos. At the end of the match, off a free kick for Newell’s, River made a quick run upfield: Suarez set up Barco, who left Solari alone to set the score at 1-0. The team managed by Demichelis now has 30 points and has a 7-point lead over the second-placed team. Next week, River will play two matches at the Mâs Monumental stadium: on Wednesday, against Sporting Cristal, and on Sunday, against Independiente.
