River wasted no time, creating a clear chance in just ten seconds: a kick-off from the center was followed by a precise long pass from Manuel Lanzini to Pablo Solari, who controlled the ball in the box, set himself up, and took a powerful right-footed shot that sailed over the goal defended by Alan Aguerre. River’s No. 10, who was very active in the opening minutes, was also key in several attacking efforts.

River kept dominating the match but struggled to break through against a team that, at times, packed men deep. Lanús only threatened Jeremías Ledesma with a dangerous cross from the left by Mateo Sanabria that skimmed the crossbar. In the final minutes of the first half, Lanzini tested Aguerre with a direct free kick, but Aguerre made a save to his right.

Three minutes into the second half, River created another clear opportunity: Solari broke down the right flank and delivered a low cross to Facundo Colidio; River’s No. 11 took a low shot on the first touch, but Aguerre reacted well and prevented the goal. In the counterattack, Lanús took a 1-0 lead with a goal by Marcelino Moreno. River reacted and responded with a powerful shot from Franco Mastantuono that Aguerre pushed out for a corner.

The equalizer came from Miguel Borja: the Colombian capitalized on a defensive lapse, sidestepped Aguerre, and tapped the ball into the empty net. In the final moments, River had a chance to secure the win with a superb pass from Nacho Fernández to Borja, but the striker’s left-footed shot went wide. Lanús took a 2-1 lead with a header from Jonatan Torres in stoppage time, but Borja stepped up again to make it 2-2. Following this draw, River will travel to Mendoza on Wednesday to face Godoy Cruz on Matchday 7 of the tournament.
