After the victory at Mendoza, Marcelo Gallardo's team wanted to continue with that streak against Velez. It was the local team who generated the first clear situation of the game, after a mid-round of Joaquin Laso that went just over the crossbeam of Franco Armani's goal.

Velez warned again with a dangerous center by Pablo Galdames which Armani managed to control, and then it was River who had his chance: Milton Casco went by the left side and sent a low center that none could connect. In an unattended pass at the background, Javier Pinola committed a penalty that Armani held after covering the shot to Rodrigo Salinas.

Armani once again became a giant in another Salinas opportunity, with a stupendous save down. River was left with two clear chances: first, with a cross and barely deviated shot from Exequiel Palacios and then with a free kick from Nicolás De La Cruz that almost surprised Lucas Hoyos.

In the second half, River had a better start and after a warning from Lucas Pratto, Rafael Borre put the 1-0 with an exquisite definition over the goalkeeper, after a precise pass from De La Cruz. In the next one, Cufré was close to a draw, and "El Millonario" had even more situations with De La Cruz and a Laso's play against his own goal.

Juan Quintero, already in the field and debuting the number 10, almost gets the second free kick. Armani became giant again in front of a clear situation of Nicolás Dominguez. Near the end, Matías Suárez stole a ball at the exit, they charged him with a penalty and the Colombian midfielder exchanged it for a goal. At the discount, Velez discounted with Alvaro Barreal, but was not enough.

River added their second consecutive win and on Sunday, at the Monumental Stadium, they will host Racing.
