Villa Dálmine started strong and made two dangerous goal plays in the first few minutes, but found a colossal Franco Armani; in the first one, he blocked Martin Comachi’s chance of a header, and for the second one he quickly reacted after a Federico Jourdan shoot.

River responded with a good play by Gonzalo Montiel on the right, and a faulty shot by Lucas Pratto at the beginning of the area. Then, Nacho Scocco controlled a long pass, ending in a penalty committed by the goalkeeper Juan Dobboletta, penalty Gonzalo Martínez aced and put the score 1-0 for Gallardo’s team.

The opponent team continued generating risky chances of score: Marcelo Estigarribia shot to the left post of River’s goal. Nonetheless “El Millonario” managed to turn around the first 45 minutes of the match. Pratto had a chance with a header, but was in an advanced position, and then Milton Casco tried with a shot that came close to the right post of Villa Dálmine.

The second half started with a River firm and decided to make worth the advantage gotten in the first half. In a lethal counterattack, Lucas Pratto did everything right: he retained the ball and fought for it, making a great pass to Nacho Fernandez, who then got in position, and entering the area scored the 2-0 for River.

Nacho Scocco also had his moment, with a free kick that went really close. And then Pratto's goal arrived: he positioned on the left and made a spectacular shot that went above the goalkeeper, scoring the third goal. Fernandez could have scored the fourth, but he was blocked by Dobboletta, the goalkeeper.

After a good movement by Montiel, Nacho Fernandez had again a chance to score, but the ball went just outside the left post of the goalkeeper. Then, Pity enabled Rodrigo Mora, but the striker could not beat Dobboletta. Jourdan put together a nice individual maneuver, but Armani again block the shot. Villa Dálmine manage to score one goal joust at the end through Marcos Martinich.

With this victory, River Plate awaits for his next rival, who will come off the winner of General Lamadrid and Platense. The next presentation will be on Thursday, August, 9 against Racing, in Avellaneda, for the first match of the round of 16, for the CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup.
