In the first few minutes, "El Millonario" made his idea count and little by little began to endanger Gimnasia's goal. First, Nicolas De La Cruz could not make it after a good cross from Julian Alvarez and then Rafael Borre took a pass from the Uruguayan midfielder from the right side.

The Colombian striker then opened the scoring with a good left-footed definition after an exquisite pass from Alvarez. Then, German Lux had a good response to Jan Hurtado's header and De La Cruz was close once again, with a shot that went barely past Sebastian Moyano's right post.

Gimnasia then went in search of the draw, but Lux appeared once again preventing Hurtado's goal. De La Cruz, who had a good first half, had another chance to extend the scoreboard, which would eventually come with another jewel goal by Borré, after a rebound in a good individual play by Cristian Ferreira.

At the second half, Gimnasia narrowed the gap with a header from Matías Gómez: Lux came to touch the ball and received a yellow card for complaining. He claimed that the ball never got past the goal line. River did not have the forcefulness of the first half, but still managed to generate danger with a shot by Jorge Moreira and a clear header by Bruno Zuculini that went next to Moyano's right post.

Gimnasia came close in the final stretch, but found a confident Lux who responded well in a one-on-one with Hurtado and in a header from Santiago Rosales. Near the end, Alvarez had his chance, after a pass from Lucas Beltran, but the 9th riverplatense could not define properly due to the rival goalkeeper's exit.

The third goal came through Matías Moya, who defined before the exit of the goalkeeper, closing the scoring. El Millonario thus scored a major "Super Liga" victory before the second match of the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors on Sunday.
