With Authority, River Won at The Monumental Marcelo Gallardo’s team won by 2-0 against Unión for the 12th date of the Superliga at a match played ahead of date. Rafael Borré and Gonzalo Martínez, with a penalty shot, scored the goals.

At the beginning, River showed much more determination in the field, although Unión generated some danger during the first minutes, but had no risky plays near Enrique Bologna’s goal. After that, El Millonario reacted with a center shot from the left by Marcelo Saracchi that almost got in the goal through the rival goalkeeper’s back.
Then, the Uruguayan player sent a precise shot that Enzo Pérez kicked to the goal, but Nereo Fernández blocked it. In addition, Gonzalo Martínez had its first opportunity with a deflected header, and Ignacio Scocco, with a header, almost opened the score. During that moment, Unión waited in its area to make an offensive play.
During the last minutes of the first half, Enzo Pérez was not able to define easily after a center shot from the left, and Nicolás De La Cruz made it difficult for Fernández with a free kick from the right. Unión’s goalkeeper blocked the ball with his fists from within the area.
During the second half, the first opportunity was for River thanks to a center shot by Pity that Rafael Borré, substitute for Auzqui, could not define. Then, Unión had three more goal opportunities with Franco Soldano. The first one was with a one-on-one that went out, the second one was blocked by Bologna, and the third one was a header that went above the crossbar.
After those distressing moments, River owned the match. Fernández blocked a great right shot by De La Cruz, and then the first goal arrived: after a scissor kick by Nacho Scocco, Borré scored with a header. In the next play, Gómez Andrade committed a foul on the Colombian forward, and Pity Martínez converted the penalty with a precise and powerful shot to the goalkeeper’s left post.
With the match in control, Bologna reacted again in the right way to a header by Lucas Gamba, and Gonzalo Montiel almost had the third one near the end with a powerful right cross that Fernández barely deflected.
River’s next match will be on Sunday in the Monumental against Newell’s Old Boys. Now, Gallardo’s team awaits the confirmation of the date for the final of the Argentine Cup against Atlético Tucumán.
