Marcelo Gallardo’s River appears when the situation demands it. It was not the first time that the team had a similar challenge ahead, and once again the results were favorable for the team that never quits its idea of the match. It was a victory signed by El Muñeco, who wants to conquer all.

During the first half and after an approach by Boca through a deflected kick by Darío Benedetto, it all went in River’s favor. First, Lucas Alario created a spectacular individual play and set up Sebastián Driussi, who ran fast and kicked the ball with strength, but Agustín Rossi stopped the shot.

Next, Driussi kicked a center shot from the right, and Gonzalo Martínez, who was near the first post, kicked the ball in the air with his right and scored the first goal for El Millonario. Then, Ignacio Fernández was close to widen the score gap with a deflected shot, and Driussi almost did the same, but it passed close to the rival’s right post.

With that persistence and superiority, Alario scored the second goal after an accurate play by Pity. The top scorer defined it high and shouted the 2-1. Nonetheless, on the last play of the first half, Fernando Gago scored its own after a free kick.

During the second half, River did not resign its style and played with character. It made Boca nervous through the sides. The local team also had its chances, but River’s defense was strong. Augusto Batalla became huge when disturbed, and its figure rose to the sky at the final double stop. Before that, Carlos Auzqui was not able to score during a clear face-to-face play.

After that intervention by Batalla, River finished the match: Nacho Fernández recovered the ball and assisted Driussi, who ran, faced Rossi and defined with a first class move the third goal of the evening, the definitive one, the one that unleashed the celebrations and announces to Argentinian soccer that El Millonario will fight till the end.
