River won his first friendly match in USA Marcelo Gallardo’s team played a good match and won 1-0 over Saprissa of Costa Rica. The goal was made by Nacho Fernández, after a good group maneuver.

“The Millionaire” had a great start this semester. Their first friendly match was played during the half of the preseason work in Orlando, at the ESPN complex against Saprissa of Costa Rica.

River took charge of the game and in no time began threatening Kevin Briceno's goal; first with a shot from outside the area, by Gonzalo Martínez, that went very close to the opponent's left angle; and then, with a free kick of the 10th player, that Gonzalo Montiel couldn’t nod.

River’s first goal came after a very good collective play, and a high kick of Nacho Fernandez. Then, Lucas Pratto almost scored the second one with a shot to the left post of the goalkeeper. Saprissa had a chance to tie the score, but Stwart Perez’s nod was deflected. The last chance went to the Argentinian team, with an indirect free kick inside the area that Nacho Scocco could not convert.

The second part went as the first, the ball was mainly controlled by River with plenty of approaches to the rival´s goal; two free kicks by Rodrigo Mora that went wide, a good connection between Nacho Fernández and Rafael Borré, and a low shot from Cristian Ferreira which scraped Briceno's right post.

Gonzalo Montiel had also a chance with a high right, and Germán Lux had a great response to an attack by Saprissa. Then, Borré kicked with his left foot and the goalkeeper answered well on his right post. At the end, the Costa Rican team had several chances, but River’s goalkeeper responded well.

This Friday, River Plate will be tested again, against Millonarios, from Colombia.
