After the victories in the debut at the Copa Libertadores and its visit to Lanus, River Plate played once again at the Monumental accompanied by its fans with the obligation of adding three points to the score so as not to loose its place in the local tournament.

During the first half, after an amazing move by Augusto Batalla who blocked Claudio Bieler, el Millonario had a great performance. Gonzalo Martínez kicked the ball high from outside the area, and Iván Alonso could not connect with accuracy two clear headers in the area but had a chance with a left shot, however the goalkeeper Lucas Acosta stopped it.

Before the first half ended, River had a close opportunity with an attempt by Martínez that was deviated and passed near the rival’s goal. Thus, Marcelo Gallardo’s team met the half time with notorious superiority in the game.

On the second half, before the first minute had passed and with a wonderful collective play, Sebastián Driussi stated its presence in the score: after a pass by Ariel Rojas and an untouched assistance by Alonso, the goal scorer opened the score. After a few seconds, the Uruguayan forward had the second chance, but its right kick was deviated, and Martínez also generated a great individual play, but his shot went high.

Belgrano drew the score with a goal by Cristian Lema, and the Millonario reacted. It scored its second goal with a masterpiece: a fantastic collective play that ended with an assistance by Milton Casco to Martínez, who shot the ball next Acosta’s left post. Since then, River could have expanded the difference, but it lacked precision on the final touch.

With this victory, Gallardo’s team added a third victory in a row (counting the local tournament and the Copa Libertadores) and now has 29 points. On the next date, River will visit Godoy Cruz in Mendoza.
