River won another classic match and the Monumental stadium turned into a party

After a start in which Independiente threatened from the left, River settled in, and quickly began dominating the game. This way the first clear goal situations appeared: Lucas Martínez Quarta went up and then Matías Suárez played it to the left side, but Nacho Scocco could not capitalize this move.

Juan Quintero almost scored an Olympic goal, but his shot hit the crossbar after Martín Campaña touched it. In the next one, Scocco had an unbeatable chance, but his header after a center by Suarez was controlled by Independiente's goalkeeper. And there was more: Suarez made his way into the area and speeded up before Campaña, but Nicolas Figal avoided the goal over the line.

In another round, Quintero hooked and fired after a pass from Nacho Fernandez, but Campaña, with a good performance, covered it up without complications. In Independiente's only dangerous approach during the first half, Franco Armani responded very well against his left post after a shot by Cecilio Domínguez. In the final minutes, River asked for a penalty in a dubious Campaña play against Suarez.

Independiente had three clear chances at the start of the second half: in the first one, Armani covered with his legs a Martín Benítez shot at the first post; then Franco burst the crossbar with a header and in the third one, Bruno Zuculini blocked Benítez with just enough while he entered through the heart of the area.

However, River recovered and got the deserved advantage: Gallardo sent Julián Álvarez to the field and the young player, a minute after entering, took advantage of a pass from Suarez and a negligent defense to score the 1-0 with a good half turn to the left post of Campaña.

River continued coming, Independiente felt the blow and "El Millonario" did not miss the opportunity to finish him off. First, Cristian Ferreira tried a free kick and then Nacho Scocco took charge of the penalty (Campaña's mistake and Suárez's infraction) for the 2-0 that made the Monumental Stadium delirious.

In the final stage, with everything under control, Lucas Pratto was attentive to capture a rebound after a shot by Jorge Carrascal (who was making his debut) and scored the final 3-0, with which River stretched its good streak in the classics and came close to qualifying for next year's Copa Libertadores.
