River wins in Santiago del Estero

River Plate secured a 2-0 win over Ciudad de Bolívar in the Copa Argentina round of 64, with goals from Leandro González Pirez and Franco Mastantuono. The match was held at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades.
Marcelo Gallardo’s team made its debut in this year’s Copa Argentina in Santiago del Estero and came away with a solid win. River created plenty of chances in the first half and quickly took the lead with a goal from Leandro González Pirez off a corner kick.
Borja, Mastantuono, and Nacho Fernández each had chances to extend the lead, and River hardly suffered at the back, with only a header from Elías Martínez posing any real threat. Just minutes before the final whistle, Mastantuono made it 2-0 with a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the box.
In the second half, River maintained control and had chances to extend the lead. The clearest opportunity came from a penalty, but Ramiro Biscardi guessed right and saved Borja’s effort low. Up next in the Copa Argentina, River will take on San Martín de Tucumán. Meanwhile, in the league, the team will host Rosario Central at the Mâs Monumental.
