Marcelo Gallardo’s team stepped up in the second half and secured a 2-0 win over San Martín, with goals from the Colombian forward and the young talent, and another strong performance from Franco Armani.

The first half was highly contested and filled with tension. River gradually took control, trying to threaten San Martín with attacks from the flanks and crosses into the box. However, the best chance came to Alejandro Molina after a scramble from a corner, only for Franco Armani to make a stunning save.

River later threatened with a high header from Gonzalo Tapia and a long-range shot from the Chilean forward, but he couldn’t connect properly. Just before halftime, Paulo Díaz reacted well with a header to clear a dangerous shot from outside the box.

As the second half began, Marcelo Gallardo made changes up front, and Miguel Borja, who had come on for Tapia, quickly finished off a brilliant assist from Gonzalo Martínez to put River 1-0 up in San Juan. Around the 70th minute, another substitute sealed the second goal: Franco Mastantuono had just entered and fired a stunning left-footed shot into Matías Borgogno’s right post.

With this win, River has reached 15 points and is closing in on the top of its group in the Torneo Apertura. Next Saturday, Gallardo’s team will face Estudiantes de La Plata at the Mâs Monumental.
