Marcelo Gallardo’s team won 2-0 against San Martín of San Juan at the Mâs Monumental, with goals from Santiago Lencina and Maximiliano Salas, and continues to top the group.

Following the first few minutes when San Martín threatened Franco Armani’s goal, River responded with a good combination down the right, including a pinpoint cross from Fabricio Bustos and a forced header by Juan Quintero that missed the target.

The opening goal came after another good team move: Ian Subiabre received the ball in the box, adjusted, and passed it to Santiago Lencina, who shifted it to the left and fired a high shot to score his first goal at the Mâs Monumental. Just moments later, Maxi Salas powered forward and hammered a fantastic left-footed shot across the goal for 2-0.

River held onto the lead in the second half, barely coming under attack, and had a few opportunities to extend the margin. With this win, the team reached 15 points and remains the undefeated leader in the group. The next match will be on September 13, away against Estudiantes de La Plata.
