River wins at home and keeps the lead The team managed by Martín Demichelis beat Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata 3-0, with goals from Lucas Beltrán, Rodrigo Aliendro and Matías Suárez, and remains at the top of the table with a 4-point lead.

In the same spirit of previous matches, River was the main figure from the very first seconds and, before the first minute was up, Enzo Díaz had a good opportunity to open the scoring with a shot that deflected off a rival defender. Then, an energetic Esequiel Barco struck a high shot after a move on the right-hand side, off a pass from Rodrigo Aliendro; then, Lucas Beltrán struck a crossed shot off an assist from River’s No. 21.
Gimnasia had a chance at Rodrigo Castillo's feet, but Franco Armani comfortably saved his shot. On the next play, Guillermo Enrique committed a foul on Enzo Díaz within the box and Beltrán scored the penalty: a great shot that opened the scoring at the Mâs Monumental stadium. Before the first half ended, River had more opportunities: an on-target header from Salomón Rondón and another one from Leandro González Pirez, off a corner kick.
River started the second half on a good footing, being on top of the game and going for the second goal, even though it had some difficulties in the final meters. The clearest opportunity was a good right-footed shot from Rondón (off a great pass from Enzo Pérez), following a twist-off in the box, but Nelson Insfrán blocked the shot with his right foot. Around the 65th minute, Rodrigo Aliendro scored a great header, setting the score at 2-0 and scoring his first goal wearing the River jersey.
Toward the end, Matías Suarez lofted an incredible left-footed shot over the keeper, scoring a goal and sealing the win for River. Demichelis’s team won again, once again widening its lead and sitting at the top of the table with 27 points, 4 points clear of the second-placed team. River’s next match will be on Sunday, in Rosario, against Newell’s. Then, it will host Sporting Cristal on matchday 2 of the CONMEBOL Libertadores.
