The team managed by Martín Demichelis created several situations, beating Union 1-0 at the Mâs Monumental stadium with a goal from Nacho Fernández, and remains at the top.

Following the FIFA Calendar break, River Plate returned to the Mâs Monumental stadium to meet the fans and, also, to defend their sole leadership of the Professional Football League championship. River created several clear situations, one after the other. Nacho Fernández made a left-footed pass and Lucas Beltrán set up a great play on the left-hand side, but the final back pass lacked precision.

The goal was scored thanks to a fantastic left-footed shot by Nacho, off a pass from José Paradela in the same area. The goal scoring opportunities kept coming: a crossed shot on goal from Milton Casco, a great combination play set up by Enzo Pérez and Paradela, another shot from José Paradela following an overlapping run by Beltrán, a shot from Nacho Fernández, which went just wide of the goal, and another one from Rodrigo Aliendro, which went just wide of the right post.

In the second half, River was determined to widen the well-deserved lead and quickly had a chance at Nacho Fernandez’s feet, but his shot was blocked on the line by the rival defense. Later on, the team managed by Demichelis had two other great chances to score. Enzo Pérez almost scored a header, but his shot went high over the goal. Miguel Borja came onto the field and also had his chance to score.

It is worth mentioning that Franco Armani reached his 100th match as River’s goalkeeper with the goal at zero, which made the celebration complete. Having claimed this win, River now sits with 21 points and will reach the end of the matchday as sole leader. On Tuesday, River will play its CONMEBOL Libertadores debut match against The Strongest in La Paz.
