The local team posed the first threat in the first 10 seconds, as a result of a slip by Enzo Pérez and a frontal shot by Luis González: Franco Armani, who was focused, flew to the left and prevented the goal. El Millionario responded with a long-distance shot by Nicolás De La Cruz and a rebound by Santos, but Matías Suárez couldn’t catch it.

River’s goalkeeper appeared again with a spectacular reaction in a one-to-one encounter with Nikão, but the move was invalidated seconds later due to an offside position. From the left, Paranaense hurt Gallardo’s team and scored a goal after a move on that side and a shot by Marco Ruben in a clear area.

River recovered and went looking for an even score, but couldn’t be definite enough in the final meters. It posed a threat up to the beginning of the area and disturbed its rival with some corner kicks. The local team, on the other hand, had a second opportunity by means of a centering pass from the left which Gonzalez wasn’t able to head and which rebounded on Ruben.

During the second half, el Millionario kept on insisting and had the first opportunity by means of a shot by Exequiel Palacios from outside the area, that, after being deflected, passed near Santos’ right goalpost. Then, Armani appeared again to prevent Renan, who had come from the left, from celebrating a goal.

River’s goalkeeper kept on being confident in every move and dead ball. The clearest opportunity of the second half consisted in Suárez running past his rivals and shooting a centering pass that De La Cruz was able to catch, but not score. In the final part, after Casco’s expulsion, el Millionario resisted well. Now, the rematch will be on Thursday 30th at the Monumental Stadium.
