The encounter at the south started even, but it was River who first generated danger. After Jorge Moreira escalated by the right, Ignacio Scocco made a high shot, facing the goal, the local team tried to respond with good arrivals.

Lanús took the lead thanks to Leandro Maciel's cross shot, in questionable position and after a poorly charged throw-in in favor of the local team. River recovered quickly and thanks to Juan Quintero, brought danger to Matías Ibáñez goal several times. However, the equalizer came after a stabbing goal made by Scocco, resulting of a good header from Nicolás De La Cruz.

De la Vega had a chance in a good individual play and a right-footed shot, but Franco Armani blocked it with authority. Enzo Pérez tried from outside, but after that shot he had to be replaced by Santiago Sosa due to a muscle discomfort. The last two plays of the first half were for River: a free kick by Quintero and a header by Scocco that Ibáñez rejected incredibly.

It was a game of two halves. In the stoppage time, River was a machine: first with a counterattack, but the play was wasted after a defensive error of Lanús. Then, after a good collective move, Ibáñez stole it from De La Cruz, who had received a perfect pass from Quintero.

The gale of goals began with Sosa's mid-range shot that hit Ibáñez right post, bounced off the goalkeeper's back and went right into the goal. Then, after a good free kick from the Colombian, Luciano Lollo beat them all and scored the 3-1 with a great bullet header. The following one was a piece of art: a great collective play and subtle touch by De La Cruz.

River was not disturbed during the rest of the match and could even have expanded with a tremendous right shoot from Sosa, which was barely deflected over the left corner of Ibáñez. The fifth and final came after another great team maneuver, with a run by Mora, a center of Rafael Borré and the final touch to the net of Exequiel Palacios.

Now, “El Millonario” will wait for next Tuesday's match, against Independiente in the “Monumental” Stadium, to define the semifinal pass of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup.
