River turns match around to beat Banfield Marcelo Gallardo's team started one goal down, but in the second half, Enzo Fernandez evened the score off a penalty kick and Matias Suarez scored a goal off a collective play, sealing the win for River.

El Millonario pressed Banfield in the starting minutes and had a very clear scoring chance at Andres Herrera's feet: Matias Suarez let the ball pass him by, the right winger ran up the field to face Enrique Bologna, but his shot went high. Then, Santiago Simon struck a long-range shot that went just wide of the Banfield's left goalpost.

On another attacking play by River, Enzo Fernandez tapped the ball to Simon, who struck a threatening cross from the right-hand side, but his shot was intercepted by Emanuel Coronel inside the goal area. After a few attacking plays, Banfield took the lead when Franco Armani mistakenly came off his line for a long-range shot and Jeremias Perales took advantage of the exposed goal to set the score at 1-0. At the end of the first half, River’s keeper was in the right place to save a shot by Juan Alvarez, and Simon struck a shot on goal that was saved by Bologna.

At the beginning of the second half, Gallardo's team kept pressing up the field and was quickly awarded a penalty: Franco Quinteros put a hand on a crossed shot, and, upon a VAR review, Pablo Echeverria awarded River a penalty shot: Fernandez took an excellent penalty kick, setting the score at 1-1. Just a few minutes later, with Juanfer Quintero and Jose Paradela now on the field, el Millonario set the score at 2-1 with a great goal by Suarez off an incredible collective play.

The home team went for the tie and was close to evening the score with a shot by Alvarez, that went just wide of Armani's left goalpost. River responded with a shot from outside the box by Fernandez, but it failed to threaten Bologna’s goal. In the end, el Millonario held up well, kept calm, and claimed all three points in the championship.

River now sits second in Group A, with 22 points. For the next matchday, River will visit Talleres in Cordoba, on Wednesday morning.
