During a very hot afternoon at Huracán’s stadium, where River played as the local team against Estudiantes, El Millonario had the chance to beat the leader and get even closer to the highest of the local championship.

River started much better than it’s rival and created good approaches in which Sebastián Driussi and Andrés D’Alessandro connected very well. Lucas Alario almost opened the score, but the visitors responded with a header by Augusto Solari that hit the crossbar.

D’Alessandro was close with a left kick that passed near the right post of goalkeeper Daniel Sappa. Near the end of the first half, a play by Leandro Desábato to Camilo Mayada resulted in a penalty, and Alario traded it for a goal: a powerful kick on the opponent’s right post.

On the second half, El Millonario was close twice to raising the lead: a shot by Gonzalo Martínez that Sappa pushed out and a kick by Arturo Mina that hit on a post after the goalkeeper had stopped it.

However, after a defensive omission, Estudiantes came to draw with a header by Carlos Auzqui. Beyond that hit, River could have won near the end, but the left kick of Jorge Moreira hit the crossbar.

With this draw, River couldn’t reduce the advantage of Estudiantes. On the next game, Gallardo’s team will visit Newell’s Old Boys in Rosario.
