The beginning of the match found River in a stronger position, with better control and trying to weave consecutive touches to create danger. The first one was for El Millonario: after a rebound, Rafael Borre went with a one on one, his crossed definition flew just outside Guido Herrera's right post. Lucas Pratto also had his chance, with a high left-footed shot after a good habilitation from Enzo Pérez.

In the third approach, Perez was not able to settle into the area after a good collective play. Meanwhile, the local team warned with a cross shot by Juan Ramirez, which Franco Armani removed with a tremendous smack, although it was invalidated by advanced position. River took the lead with a goal from Nacho Fernandez, after capitalizing on a great assist from Pratto.

The second goal was less than ten minutes away, with Nacho Fernandez's precise free-kick from the left: after returning from a foul, he fired over the goalkeeper and scored the 2-0. Talleres had the last one, with a high shot from Dayro Moreno that did not represent any trouble for Armani.

With the restart, Talleres tried to take the dominance away from River and go in search of the discount. Joel Soñora struck from the outside and the shot went close, but El Millonario responded with a good header from Lucas Martinez Quarta after a free kick. Another one for the American champion: a precise shot from Pérez that was rejected by the local goalkeeper.

After De La Cruz's dismissal, for a double warning, River returned to position and did not pass any jolts, beyond some approaches without too much danger and a magnificent save from Armani against a header by Mauro Ortiz. With this triumph, River practically secured qualification for the CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup to be played next year. For the time being, for this edition, they will visit Inter, in Brazil this Wednesday.
