On the night of the debut of the new alternative t-shirt, River hit the scoreboard. After a maneuver by Nicolás De La Cruz on the left side, came a corner shot forced by the Uruguayan player, scoring the first goal: Lucas Martínez Quarta beat them all with his fantastic header and took advantage of Cristian Ferreira's good send to score the 1-0.

“El Millonario”, far superior to Newell's, almost scored the second with the same formula: Ferreira's precise free kick, this time from the right, and Javier Pinola's header that went close to Alan Aguerre's right post. Lucas Pratto had his chance, after a play by Camilo Mayada and a right-footed shot that went just over the goal line.

On the left, De La Cruz was unable to capitalise a rebound and fired a deflected shot. Then, the Uruguayan player climbed on the left side, opened the field and Mayada sent a great cross for Matías Suárez to score the 2-0. In an inattention came the discount through Alexis Rodriguez.

However, Ferreira was in charge of a free kick on the left side and with a right-footed shot at Aguerre's first post River shouted the third one at the Monumental Stadium. The fourth almost came after an excellent play by Ferreira and a pass to Pratto, who dribbled in the area, but could not finish off comfortably.

In the second half, River struggled to maintain the dynamics of the first half, but still took the lead of the game and there were practically no surprises, except for a deflected header from Rodriguez. The champion of America, meanwhile, responded with a good header from Ignacio Scocco but Aguerre was right on target.

Within half an hour of the game, Ferreira made an individual move, he was awarded a penalty and Scocco was in charge of it, firing a tremendous shot into the top of the visitors' goal. On the final play, Newell's discounted through Luis Leal. Thus, "El Millonario" closed the match with another victory. Next Wednesday, in Peru, will be the turn of the Copa Libertadores debut against Alianza Lima.
