River shines and clinches a big win in the third match of the championship With three goals from Miguel Borja and two from Facundo Colidio, River defeated Vélez 5-0 in their third match of the PFL Cup.

It was an extraordinary evening filled with football at the Mâs Monumental stadium, where River shone and comfortably won the match against Vélez. Moreover, it marked the 50th consecutive sold-out game.
With a packed stadium on Sunday evening, Martín Demichelis’ team took to the field eager to seize control of the match from the outset. The opening goal stemmed from a collective play that culminated in an excellent assist from Esequiel Barco, with Facundo Colidio showcasing his ability to score and make it 1-0 in Núñez just 6 minutes into the game. Fifteen minutes later, and via a set-piece routine, the Colombian player, Miguel Ángel Borja, who had already missed clear-cut goalscoring opportunities, scored the second goal, sending the Mâs Monumental stadium into raptures. A pinpoint cross from Nacho Fernández found Borja’s head, widening the lead. River continued to dominate the match and create goal-scoring opportunities.
The third goal was scored in the 31st minute, once again courtesy of River’s number 9, who, following a set-piece assist from Barco, headed in the third goal, mirroring the first. Minutes before the end of the first half, Nicolás Fonseca, the Uruguayan player, regained possession in midfield, allowing Borja to continue his run. Borja then passed to Colidio, who found Nacho Fernández with a touch, and Fernández quickly laid it off to Esequiel Barco. Barco, with a clever backheel, assisted Colidio in the box, who finished neatly by the left post.
Thus, River concluded the first half with a four-goal lead as the stadium continued the celebration. The second half saw the same dynamic as the first. River went on the offensive, and in just 10 minutes, the team secured the fifth goal (a hat-trick by Miguel Borja), capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Vélez near the box. Nacho Fernández quickly intercepted the play and crossed the ball into the goal area for Borja to finish with a header on the goal line. In the 55th minute, River established a 5-0 lead. With the comfortable lead, Martín Demichelis made 4 substitutions: Ramiro Funes Mori for Paulo Díaz; Agustín Ruberto for Facundo Colidio; Franco Mastantuono for Ignacio Fernández; Agustín Palavecino for Rodrigo Aliendro. Ten minutes later, the coach made another substitution, giving more playing time to another one of the youth players who was promoted to the First Division: Ian Subiabre came on for the evening’s goalscorer, Miguel Ángel Borja.
