The champion of America is now among the best four teams of the Copa Sudamericana and the dream of defending the title is alive. In Chapecó, the team was defeated 2-1 and it suffered during almost all the match, but it managed to classify thanks to the 3-1 victory achieved last week in Núñez.

River threatened in the first minutes with a weapon that had been key in the first leg: the kick of Pisculichi. In six minutes, a free shot of this player was deviated close to the right post of Danilo and it came very close to become the first goal of the night. However, the local team, pressured by the unfavorable global scoreboard, attacked and complicated River Plate defense, namely through the dangerous Bruno Rangel, who scored the 1-0in the minute 20.

Gallardo's team tried to score a goal in order to be calm in a match that was being difficult and, on the closure of the first half, it got this calm thanks to a Pisculichi center and a header of Carlos Sánchez, always ready to appear in the decisive moments.

In the minute 8 of the second half, the local scored the second goal, again through Bruno Rangel, this time taking advantage of a dead-ball situation. From there, Chapecoense tried to force penalties, managed to embarrass the champion and it created chances, but its poor shooting and some brilliant interventions by Barovero (one of the best River players in the night of Brazil) prevented Chapecoense from scoring the third goal.

Thus came the end of the match, with a River that suffered more than as usual to close the series, but that once again was successful in the quarterfinals and now waits for a rival for the next round of the Copa Sudamericana.
