Asi it happens every year, the Physical Department at River recognized those who defend the red and white jersey day after day with effort and love for the club in different disciplines and local activities.
At the Sport Party, with Rodolfo D’Onofrio and Jorge Brito, River’s 1st Vice-President, the Club awarded its athletes in the categories of Sport Revelation, Best Sportperson and River Plate Value, an award named after Fernando Cavenaghi, who was a special guest together with Honorary President Amadeo Carrizo.
First, D’Onofrio and Brito acknowledged the sportpersons for their effort and highlighted how proud they are to wear River’s jersey in any sport. Then, Horacio Caffaro, outgoing head of the Physical Department, gave an emotional speech where he thanked all those who supported him during his four year term and highlighted the growth and sport achievments in these years.
During the event that was held in the Microstadium, all 22 disciplines representatives showed their skills and then were called to receive their awards.
The great winners of the night were skater Ivana Nouet (Best Sportperson), handball player Adrián Portela (River Plate Value), and rythmic gymnastics representative Valentina Moreno (Sport Revelation).
Nouet, who skates in the gymnasiums of the Monumental since she was 5 years old and currently teaches at the Club’s school, won fourth place at the World Championship in China. Portela, who also defends River’s jersey from his childhood, is current Captain of the League of Honour and became River’s example, and contributes with his experience from other World Cups and Olimpic Games with the national team. Moreno is one of the greatest promises of the young gymnasts team of the institution.
