At Mendoza, River had their first chance with a Milton Casco's climb on the left side, but Godoy Cruz responded with a very clear situation: a free kick from Juan Andrada that hit Franco Armani's left post and crossed the line. El Millonario were left uneasy in the next one, after a deflected header from Ignacio Fernández came a very good collective play on the left side.
The first one came after a recovery of Rafael Borre in rival field and a precious assistance from Exequiel Palacios for Lucas Pratto. Nacho Fernandez finished with a high shot from the left and then a badly annulled goal by Borre, who made a well definition after another assist from Palacios. The second one came from a penalty kick, executed by the Colombian forward, after a hand at the area.
Shortly after the end, the home side was left with one less player after the expulsion of Tomas Cardona for a harsh infraction on Gonzalo Montiel. The defender, precisely, was near the third with a right cross that hit the right post of Roberto Ramirez.
River continued marking his superiority at the beginning of the second half. Pratto pulled a good cross header after an individual Casco maneuver, acing the third of the night. But Gallardo's team was not satisfied and went for more: Nacho Fernández had it, after a pass from Palacios, and then Ramirez drowned Pratto (with a header) and Montiel (definition at the first post).
Borré had a very clear head-to-head after Enzo Pérez enabled him, but he eluded Ramirez and could not define from the left side. Nicolás De La Cruz, in the first play he had after his entry, tried from the left after a center of Casco but the local goalkeeper held the shot down. Casco made another great play, with a nutmeg included, but Nacho Fernandez could not score. Before, Ponzio had tried from outside but found Ramirez's answer.
The jewel of the night came from the hand of debutant Matías Suárez: first he lost the goal to Ramirez, but then he dropped a pass from Pratto with high quality, hooked in the area and shot hard for the 4-0, giving River the three points. Thus, "El Millonario" recovered from the three previous defeats and was left with an important victory at Mendoza.
