The first attempt was a free kick by Cristian Chávez which found Franco Armani ready. Then, el Millionario took control: Lucas Pratto kicked the ball into the middle of the goal and then Lucas Martinez Quarta won twice in the area, but his headers went over Luciano Pocrnjic’s crossbar.

Nicolás De La Cruz and Nacho Fernández were in great situations on the sides, even though Lucas Villalba had a clear opportunity for the away team and kicked a left-footed crossed shot which passed by River Plate’s goal.

However, el Millionario scored the first goal thanks to Rafael Borré who caught a rebound at the goal line. The next play was a perfect opportunity for De La Cruz (after a good assist by Pratto) to celebrate his goal: a precise definition with the inner side of his right boot to make it 2-0.

Before the first half came to an end, River made two more attempts: a header by Borré which was controlled by the goalkeeper and a clear one-to-one play by Nacho Fernández who encountered an excellent response by Aldosivi’s goalkeeper.

The beginning of the second half was overwhelming: Leonardo Ponzio made an attempt with a high shot and then Enzo Pérez smashed a header against one of the goalposts after a great collective play. Right away, Fabrizio Angileri shattered Pocrnjic’s left goalpost with a left-footed crossed shot. Finally, the third goal was scored by De La Cruz’s feet after a pass from Borré, who had caught a rebound by the goalkeeper after a shot by Nacho Fernández.

River went for more and De La Cruz almost scored his third goal after a shot at the beginning of the area which was slightly deflected by the rival goalkeeper’s right sidebar. Aldosivi responded with a one-to-one by Chávez, who encountered a fast and solid response by Armani.

The fourth attempt was clearly defined by Pratto, who received a new assist from Borré, and was able to celebrate the goal. In another great attacking move, Cristian Ferreira opened the pitch for De La Cruz, who in turn did it for Exequiel Palacios: the youth player shot and the Uruguayan was ready to head the rebound and celebrate his third goal and the team’s fifth one.

The sixth and last goal of the night was tremendously scored by Ferreira, who took advantage of his exquisite kick and sent it right to the side of Fabian Assmann’s goal (Assman had replaced Pocrnjic.) In the next round, River will face the winner of the match between Atlético Tucumán and Talleres de Córdoba. Meanwhile, the next match is on Tuesday at the Monumental Stadium, the last Group A matchday in the CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup.
