ESRiver owns the dream team of the Americas Thanks to the amazing year that culminated in the historic Copa Libertadores final, five players have been chosen in the traditional poll conducted by Uruguayan newspaper, El País. Marcelo Gallardo came out a hands-down favourite among the coaches.
2018 could not have ended better for River Plate, thanks to the unforgettable title won against Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final, played in Madrid on December 9th.
Uruguayan newspaper El País once again carried out its poll to choose the players that would make up the best team of the Americas, and five River players were included: Franco Armani, Jonatan Maidana, Exequiel Palacios, Juan Quintero, and Gonzalo Martínez. Furthermore, Marcelo Gallardo got first place as best coach with a stunning share of more than 85% of the votes. The dream team includes: Franco Armani (River); Jonatan Maidana (River), Pedro Geromel (Gremio); Walter Kannemann (Gremio); Nahitan Nández (Boca Juniors), Wilmar Barrios (Boca Juniors), Exequiel Palacios (River), Gonzalo Martínez (River); Juan Quintero (River), Dudú (Palmeiras); Darío Benedetto (Boca Juniors).
