River made his debut with a victory in the Florida Cup Marcelo Gallardo’s team won 1-0 against Millonarios from Colombia, thanks to Lucas Alario’s early goal. Now, it will play against Sao Paulo.

On the first match of the year for River Plate, after a 2016 in which it got the Recopa Sudamericana and the Argentina Cup, el Millonario started its way in the Florida Cup with a good victory against Millonarios from Bogotá, beaten 1-0 due to a great goal scored by Lucas Alario.
The atmosphere, before the match as well as in the stadium, was marked in white and red thanks to the color and enthusiasm showed by the fans. At the field, Marcelo Gallardo showed his proposal for this first test of the pre season, with the mind set on the challenges of this semester.
Before the three minutes, after a stroke of genius at Lucas Alario’s feet, which included nutmegging and a subsequent assist from Sebastián Driussi, the 13 had a first-rate definition by a goal post to open the scoreboard and balance it in favor of el Millonario.
In that first half, the Colombian team worried with shots from outside the area, but Augusto Batalla was self-confident and firmly answered when needed.
The second half showed a completely different team for Millonarios and, as minutes went by, Gallardo made eight changes for football players to add time in the field.
The clearest situations were at the feet of Denis Rodríguez, with a shot that went near the right goalpost of the rival goalkeeper after a nice back heel from Tomás Andrade, and a free kick from Rodrigo Mora contained by Sánchez.
Now, River will play one of the semifinals against Sao Paulo from Brazil, this Thursday, at the Al Lang Stadium.
