River responded to the goal trying to take control of the game on the midfield. Following a great collective play, Tomas Pochettino orchestrated one of the clearest scoring chances, which culminated in an assist header to the midfielder: River’s No. 32 waited for the right moment to strike a crossed shot, inside the area, that went just wide of Marinelli’s left post. Tigre waited on its side of the field and then counterattacked; even though River was dominating, it found it hard to create danger.

In the second half, River went all out: Andres Herrera threatened the rival goal with an overlapping run a left-footed shot from the right-hand side of the field. Then, Julian Alvarez struck a volley that was well saved by Marinelli. Finally, River evened the score with a great goal by Enzo Fernandez from outside the area.
