River dominated the match as soon as it started and the first dangerous move quickly arrived: Juan Quintero fired a phenomenal pass at Rafael Borre, but the Colombian striker could not finish comfortably and the shot was deflected by the right post. Then, Leonardo Ponzio tried from outside but found Marcelo Grohe's answer for the corner kick.

"El Millonario" had it all. The following chance came for Exequiel Palacios, with two shots that went very close to the local goalkeeper's right angle. At River's best moment, and in their first approximation, Gremio took the advantage, after Leonardo's shot went deflected and into Franco Armani's right post.

Marcelo Gallardo's team did not slow down and had other situations before the end of the first half, with a calculated shot by Borré and two Milton Casco approximations by the left.

In the second half, River did not succeed in making the difference by the possession as in the first half and Gremio was determined to stall the match, play after play. However, "El Millonario" threatened with a Palacios shot that went near Grohe's goal, while the Local team had their chance against them, but Armani responded well.

In the closing minutes, Borre won at the area and headed a magnificent shot to equalize the match. In the following play, through the VAR, the referee correctly sanctioned a penalty by Bressan, which Gonzalo Martinez executed brilliantly, bringing the so longed (2-1). The joy of River Plate's people was unleashed, and now all that remains is to wait for a new final, which will be against either Palmeiras or Boca Juniors.
