In Mar del Plata, River played against Instituto de Córdoba for the round of thirty-two of the Copa Argentina and won 4-1 to classify for the round of sixteen and move forward with its dream of defending the title.

El Millonario took the initiative since the beginning and, before the first minute of the match, had its first chance with a header from Alario that went slightly deviated. The team continued playing in the rival field and, with Martínez as the most active in the offensive and Alario always waiting in the area, created several dangerous situations. However, after some minutes, Instituto steadied after exerting pressure in the midfield and could threaten in a couple of counterattacks.

The sending-off on the 37’ of Gonzalo Martínez seemed to make the night difficult for Gallardo’s team, but they remained calm, made the ball run and, close to the end of the first half, took the lead: Nacho Fernández escaped through the left, got to the end line and sent a low center that Scocco let pass for the appearance of Alario, who settled himself and kicked a violent high shot that left the goalkeeper with no chance to score 1-0.

At the beginning of the second half, a great intervention by Lux in a one-to-one with Castelli kept the advantage for River, that immediately recovered itself, took the game again to Instituto’s area and caused Agüero’s sending-off due to a hard foul on Moreira for both teams to be left with 10.

On the 20 minutes, the Paraguayan forward escaped again through the right and, with a back pass, looked for Enzo Pérez, who had just gone in and kicked an impeccable right shot from outside the area to shout its first goal with the red sash and put the match 2-0.

The goal scored by Olego on the 36’ gave some suspense to the end of the match, but it was not long before River dissipated doubts because, two minutes later, an exact center by Rojas from the corner kick found Maidana in the area, who made an unstoppable header that went in low, over Hoyos’s right goalpost.

There still was time for more because, on the 40’, Enzo Pérez brilliantly drove a counterattack and assisted Rafael Santos Borré so that, after a rebound, the Colombian could beat the goalkeeper, become part of the list of those who celebrated their first goal in River and put definitive numbers to the match.

Thus, Marcelo Gallardo’s team achieved a wide margin for which it had to work hard in some parts of the match and triggered the celebration of thousands of River Plate fans that filled Minella Stadium and dream with more moments of joy. The rival in the round of sixteen will come out of the winner of the match between Temperley and Defensa y Justicia this Monday.
