The so-expected beginning of the Superliga took place and Marcelo Gallardo’s River had its presentation in Temperley’s stadium. The teams were at the same level during the first minutes, sizing each other up and trying to get into rhythm. It was River the one to create the first situations, with a high header by Gonzalo Martínez after a center shot from Milton Casco and two shots from outside the area kicked by el Pity and Leonardo Ponzio.
After some approaches that implied no danger on behalf of the local, Ignacio Scocco appeared to open the scoreboard: after a quick start and a pass from Martínez, the forward received the ball, put it into place and kicked a low right shot that dived next to a goalpost, impossible for Josué Ayala. This, el Millonario celebrated its first score in the Superliga.

Temperley had two clear situations: first, Jonatan Maidana prevented the tie on the line and then Germán Lux became greater and blocked a powerful shot to the corner of the goalpost from Juan Sánchez Sotelo. River could have broadened the difference before the half time with a shot from Ignacio Fernández that went near the rival’s left goalpost.
River was a road roller at the beginning of the second half and had countless situations to broaden the difference, but the local goalkeeper did not allow it: Scocco enabled Alario, but the forward defined tightly and could not score. Then, Martínez pretended to surprise Ayala, but he responded well and the clearest was a header from Alario that the goalkeeper incredibly blocked.
The chances continued: Scocco had a one-to-one and could not define comfortably and then, in another situation, Ayala blocked his attempt. Temperley had a clear chance of counterattack, but Lux was confident against Marcos Figueroa’s shot. In one of the last ones, and in another one-to-one, Rafael Borré kicked a right shot that hit a goalpost.
This, el Millonario earned a good triumph in the first match. Now, in the second round, it will receive Banfield in the Monumental Stadium.
