The first goal opportunity was for River. Nacho Scocco shot a free kick to the left, and it passed near the right post. In the next one, Germán Lux reacted perfectly to a kick by Rodrigo Díaz inside the area. With his right hand, Lux deflected the shot.

After that, it all went in River’s favor. Scocco could not head the ball after a center kick by Nacho, and then Nicolás De La Cruz shot a deflected kick and another one that went above the crossbar. Fernández also had his opportunity with a left kick that Julio Salvá blocked.

Near the end, El Millonario scored two times in a row and got ahead. Nacho Fernández scored a center kick from the left by Pity Martínez, and Jonatan Maidana scored after a pass by De La Cruz. In this way, Gallardo’s team finished the first half with 2 goals.

During the second half, River was in control. The team knew how to mark the pace of the match so that its victory was assured. After a few approximations to the goal, El Millonario had two clear opportunities: two one-on-one by Scocco and Rafael Borré that neither could define. At the overtime, the Colombian player had its rematch and scored the third goal.

Now, Gallardo’s team will go for the second victory at the Argentine Cup against Atlético Tucumán, who has just defeated Rosario Central after a penalty shootout.
