River traveled to the US for the toughest part of its pre-season training and to play in the Florida Cup, a friendly international tournament. The team had its last game on Saturday afternoon. After defeating Millonarios at its debut and loosing against Sao Paulo in the semifinals, River played against Vasco da Gama for the third place. The game, played at the Bright House Networks Stadium, ended with a victory for the Brazilian team by 1-0 thanks to a goal by Nené.

Both teams played very similarly during the first half. However, River had a first chance with Gonzalo Martínez after a free kick cleared by the defense. During the extra time, the team coached by Marcelo Gallardo performed better than its rival.

After 7 minutes of the second half with an offensive play by Alario, Driussi had to be replaced due a foot injury. After that, two goals were annulled due to offside: one by the forward from Santa Fé and another one by Mora, who entered the game for the second half. At the end, the Uruguayan had another opportunity after a kick by Martinez, cleared by the goalkeeper.

During the last minutes, the 1-0 came along for Vasco da Gama after a free kick. In this way, River ended its participation in the Florida Cup and its hard-training stay in Orlando. Now, the friendly games of summer against Aldosivi and Boca Junior (in Mar del Plata) wait for them along with all the commitments they have for February.
