River drew in Sarandí Marcelo Gallardo’s team couldn’t maintain the 2-0 lead and drew against Arsenal, with goals by Sebastián Driussi and Gonzalo Martínez.

River Plate couldn’t crown what was an ideal week: after classifying to the semifinals of the Copa Argentina by thrashing Unión in Mar del Plata, and with a few hours of rest, River visited Arsenal in Sarandí, where it achieved a good lead it couldn’t maintain.
El Millonario started the match better than Arsenal. It created danger with a kick by Rodrigo Mora, who volleyed the ball after receiving a centre pass from Lucas Alario. It was then that they found the 1-0: the Uruguayan sent an accurate centre pass from the right side and Driussi managed to get rid of his mark very well so as to enter the goal area alone and score with a dry header.
During that first half, River was in control of the match and was very close to scoring the second goal with a kick by Gonzalo Martínez, which was caught by the goalkeeper Fernando Pellegrino. Meanwhile, Arsenal couldn’t get Augusto Batalla to worry.
In the second half, Pity was the author of the jewel of the night: he approached the rival area and softly kicked the ball with his left foot, so as to make it hit the net from above the goalkeeper’s head, increasing,in this way, the lead. Gonzalo Montiel was sent off immediately afterwardsdue to his second yellow card, and Marcelo Gallardo was forced to reorganize the team.
When there was more than half an hour left, Arsenal’s JoaquínBoghossian scored the 2-1 and, a few minutes later, Jonathan Bottinelli scored the equaliser. Being one player down, River couldn’t get into the match again and the draw became a definitive reality in Sarandí.
For the next date, Marcelo Gallardo’s team will receive Estudiantes, the leader of the tournament.
