River did everything but it was not enough against San Lorenzo El Millonario was superior in Bajo Flores, but the local team took advantage of the few dangerous plays it created and won by 2-1.

Marcelo Gallardo’s team arrived for the match against San Lorenzo with a clear objective of adding three points and owning for a moment the first place in the Tournament. However, in spite of being the lead character and controlling the match, it lost by 2-1.
During the first half, River mastered the match and started to get near San Lorenzo’s goal. First, Gonzalo Martínez shot a free kick, but Nicolás Navarro blocked it. Then, Carlos Auzqui could not set within the area, and the local goalkeeper stopped a low kick by Ariel Rojas.
Without deserving it and on its first play near the area, San Lorenzo scored its first goal thanks to Nicolás Blandi, but River kept pressuring and scored its first goal after a clear hand by Marcos Angeleri on a shot by Martínez. Sebastián Driussi, who would leave the match injured minutes later, scored the goal.
Until the end of the first 45 minutes, River had the opportunity to score a second goal with an individual play by Pity that Navarro blocked and a kick by Leonardo Ponzio that bounced on a defender after a good assistance by Iván Alonso, who had substituted Driussi.
The second half did not flow at the beginning, and the rival team scored its second goal thanks to a defensive error by River after a free kick. Paulo Díaz, after the ball bounced, scored the goal for San Lorenzo. River took initiative once again and had an excellent chance to draw with a clear one-on-one, but Auzqui defined over Navarro’s goal.
River tried to reach the rival’s goal with two center shots, but it was not able to draw and it let escape the possibility of climbing to the top. On the next game, El Millonario will play against Racing as the local team at the Monumental Stadium.
