River started attacking from the beginning, entering the rival’s field and generating threatening plays, searching for their first goal. Milton Casco tried by the left side, finishing with a left-footed shoot from outside the area, but Lucas Cháves controlled the play with little effort. In the following, Argentinos Juniors responded with an attempt by Juan Méndez who went near the right post of Franco Armani.

Then, Nacho Fernández had a one on one inside the area, but the goalkeeper managed to block him, so the 26 was not able to score. The midfielder was again protagonist in the next play, (which is debatable if it was whether a penalty or not), after a center from the left, a player from the rival team locked him from behind so he could not finish comfortably the goal attempt.

Juan Quintero also had his chance with a free kick that went high. In the last plays of the first half, Nacho Fernández crossed the ball to Lucas Pratto who came close, but at the end wasn’t able to score at the heart of the small area. Argentinos, on the other hand, only managed to threaten Armani again with a weak shot by Raúl Bobadilla and a header from Kevin Mac Allister that the goalkeeper controlled without problems.

In the second half, with the addition of Rafael Borré, “El Millonario” took control of the game from the beginning, Nacho Fernández started exchanging passes with the Colombian striker generating a dangerous play, but found themselves blocked by the rival’s goalkeeper and a defender. Then, with two headers from Jonatan Maidana and Pratto, River got very close; the defender one went very close and the forward one hit the crossbar and bounced on the line.

Pratto was again under the spot light, in a cross shot that Borré could not connect. Then, Argentinos had a very clear chance with a shot from Matías Romero that managed to go past Armani, but Pinola was there to make a great safe, he managed to clear the ball which ended hitting the crossbar. In the following, Quintero almost scored a goal from the corner, and the goalkeeper blocked Pratto’s rebound shot of that same play.

At the end, Maidana again had a goal opportunity with a header, Borre connected a free kick made by Quintero that came really close to becoming a goal, and the Colombian midfielder kicked with precision a free kick but Cháves took it out of his goal.

Gallardo’s team has not yet managed to win a game at the Superliga, but this Wednesday will receive Racing, and will be seeking for the classification to the quarterfinals of the “CONMEBOL Libertadores”. Then, on Saturday, will visit San Lorenzo for the fourth day of the local tournament.
