River defeated Huracán at Monumental Stadium Marcelo Gallardo’s team won 1-0 thanks to Sebastián Driussi’s score and shortened the distance to the leader of the tournament.

It was River Plate’s duty to return to victory, after the blunder in Rosario the previous day. Furthermore, if taking into account that Estudiantes, leader of the tournament, had lost in its visit to Banfield.

The Monumental Stadium received the team once more, after more than a month, and the return came with the victory against Huracán, in a difficult encounter in which Gallardo’s team suffered to keep the three points.

In the first part, River was superior and deserved to go to the half-time having the lead: it had clear situations through Ignacio Fernández, Gonzalo Martínez and Lucas Alario, but the good response of the opponent’s goalkeeper stifled the joy.

In the second half, it was Huracán the one to have the clearest situations and crashed two shots against the goalposts, but River got the advantage and defended it: the goal arrived after a corner kick and a well-aimed header from Sebastián Driussi, after a diversion.

Thus, River once again got three points and is seven points behind Estudiantes. The next appointment will be this Thursday, in San Juan, for the semifinal of the Argentina Cup. Then, itwillvisit Independiente in Avellaneda.
