In a new match of First Division Tournament, River traveled to Rafaela looking to win in order to continue pinned to the top of the standings. In a memorable win, River defeated 5-1 Atlético de Rafaela with four goals by Fernando Cavenaghi and one goal by Guido Rodriguez.

From the beginning, Marcelo Gallardo"s team had chances to open the scoring and demonstrated superiority. So it was that at minute 21 of the first stage, the captain of River Plate took a good run of rookie Paul Carreras (who had a good performance in defense) for Javier Saviola and, in the diversion, he defined for the 1-0. With 34 points in the standings and being escort in the local championship, River Plate waits for the big game on Tuesday in Paraguay which defines the pass to the Copa Libertadores final stage.
