River couldn't make it at the Super Liga resumption In a postponed match of the 8th date, Marcelo Gallardo's team lost 1-0 to Defensa y Justicia, although they had situations to reach a draw.

In the first few minutes, the game was disputed in the middle of the field, but it was Defensa y Justicia who generated the first situations of danger: first, with a header by pique for Nicolas Fernandez who found the brilliant response of Franco Armani, and then with another shot of the forward player, who went near the Riverplatense's goal.

The goal came after a free kick at the door of the area: Matías Rojas made a shot but the ball was deflected and went right into Armani's right post. However, River returned to the spotlight, and began to unsettle the opposition, and ended the first time really deserving the draw, after several very clear moves.

Lucas Pratto warned with a header that went near the left post and Gonzalo Montiel had another chance to head, after a pass from Pratto. Then Rafael Borre made a good individual move but couldn't manage to perform comfortably inside the area, and Javier Pinola tried from the outside. The clearest chance was a one-on-one with Borre, after a good play with Pratto, which the Colombian striker crossed and the ball went very close.

In the second half, Gallardo's team took control of the game, but generated a few goal situations and did not find the key to unlock Defensa y Justicia's defense. River had a couple of plays at Pratto's feet and other collective maneuvers which failed to end in chances of goal.

This way, River lost in the first official match of the year and now will prepare for what comes next: there will be two more home matches, receiving Union (Wednesday) and Patronato (Sunday).
