River couldn’t get the Argentina Supercup Marcelo Gallardo’s team lost 3-0 the match against Lanús at the Ciudad de La Plata Stadium and couldn’t achieve a new title.

In La Plata, River Plate had its first official presentation of the year and no less than for the chance of a new lap of honor, after a successful 2016 in which it won the Recopa Sudamericana and the Argentina Cup. Owing to this last title, it played against Lanús (winner of the local tornament) for the Argentina Supercup.
In the first 45 minutes, River began exerting lots of pressure and bothered Lanús to go out from the bottom. The middle line of el Millonario moved forward and cut the circuit of the rival game. After Rodrigo Mora’s cross from the right, Sebastián Driussi had the first one, but his header got lost near Esteban Andrada’s right goalpost.
Then, the scorer had a shot within the area, but it went beyond the crossbar. Lanús answered with Alejandro Silva’s one-to-one that went out deflected, far from Augusto Batalla’s right goalpost. The last clear chance also belonged to River: Ignacio Fernández got ready and kicked a low cross with his left foot, that was rejected by Andrada to the corner.
After the half time, the match continued with the same trend, both teams generated situations and none was better than the other. In fact, River was the one to have the clearest situations: a very clear free kick from Mora that couldn’t go beyond the barrier, a shot by Driussi form outside the area and a cross made by Fernández that Camilo Mayada could not head.
However, and after a fortuitous play, Lautaro Acosta took advantage of a rebound and scored the 1-0. River could tie the score with a kick from the deb Carlos Auzqui that went out deflected. Then, the opponent got the second one through Nicolás Pasquini andthe third one, by means of José Sand’s penalty kick.
