“El Millonario” took less than a minute to generate the first dangerous situation: after a center by Milton Casco from the left, Lucas Pratto won a header in the area, but his shot was contained by Jorge De Olivera without complications. In the next one, Javier Pinola failed to redirect Cristian Ferreira’s pass, on the edge of the 6 yard box.

Platense disturbed River with some advances on the right, but could not generate chances in Germán Lux goal. On the other hand, the team found it difficult to break through, beyond controlling the ball and denying possible threats. Ferreira recovered a ball from the rival field and tried with a distant shoot, which ended near the right post. The last one for “El Millonario” was Rafael Borré’s run, and a crossed right shoot that De Olivera rejected.

In the stoppage time, Gallardo’s team continued insisting, while Platense was sheltered in his side of the field. Ferreira tried from outside the area and Nacho Fernández, who had a good start, got two chances of opening the score. Borre also had his opportunity, until a fight for a ball, resulted in an infraction inside the area, and Pratto turned the penalty kick into a goal, opening the game.

With the advantage, “El Millonario” continued ruling without problems and only suffered with a breakthrough from José Vizcarra. The second goal was also made in a penalty kick, after a good play by Nacho Scocco that the referee allowed and then correctly rewind when the ball hit the woodwork. The forward did not fail and scored the 2-0.

Now, with the pass to quarterfinals guaranteed, “El Millonario” will wait for his rival in the next instance (Sarmiento de Resistencia or Atlético de Rafaela), while this Saturday he will receive San Martín de San Juan, for a new day of the Superliga Argentina of Soccer.
