River beat Monterrey in Austin In a new preseason friendly, River won 1-0 against the Mexican team with a goal from Lucas Beltrán.

On Tuesday, the team managed by Martín Demichelis played a new preseason friendly, winning 1-0 against Monterrey in Austin, Texas.
River started controlling the ball and had the best scoring chances in the first half. On one of those chances, the keeper deflected away a good header from Maidana off a corner kick from Ignacio Fernandez, who wore the River jersey for the first time since his return to the club. Then, Nacho collected a rebound inside the box and struck a shot at the edge of goal area, but the keeper came off his line just in time to deflect it away.
In the second half, Monterrey made some substitutions and tried to get further upfield, but River's defense held up extremely well and kept looking for chances.
In the 78th minute, the winning goal was scored: Esequiel Barco made a great move to break through the defense and set up Lucas Beltrán, who struck an on-target crossed shot the first time he collected the ball after coming onto the field a minute before.
