At the World Football Summit celebrated in Madrid, with authorities from FIFA, Premier League, LaLiga and MLS, and more than 800 professionals from the football industry worldwide, prizes were granted to those professionals who help make football grow internationally.

In the case of River Plate, the representatives were the president of the Institution, Rodolfo D’Onofrio, and the Club’s General Manager, Gustavo Silikovich, who was shortlisted together with Borussia Dortmund’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watke, and the CEO of the Portuguese Football Federation, Tiago Craveiro.

In a room crowded by more than one thousand people, Javier Tebas, president of La Liga de Fútbol Profesional, presented the nomination and announced the winner: “And the winner is… Gustavo Silikovich, from River Plate.”

“It is a great honour and pleasure to be among the nominees and represent River. I thank the president of the Club, Rodolfo D’Onofrio, who is the strategist of the real change. In River, there are more than 600 employees who put such a passion and commitment that I have not seen in any other sphere,” expressed Gustavo with notorious excitement in his voice and accompanied by the applause of the more than one thousand people present in the hall.

The Summit counted with the presence of FIFA’s General Secretary, Fatma Samoura, who opened the event, and then together with Rodolfo D’Onofrio congratulated Gustavo Silikovich.

Silikovich took office in River in 2015, and with the support from the Managing Board, succeeded in redesigning the Club’s organization chart, giving it an innovative imprint and in favor of a working group capable of meeting the needs of a leading Institution not only in the region, but now also in the world.

Faced with these challenges, River Plate positioned itself as the country's first Club to implement SAP - a world-class tool - as a management system. In this way, it was possible to order the processes and thus achieve a productive improvement in decision-making.

The jury, formed by members of FIFA, UEFA, Premier League and KPMG, had to take into consideration the managerial achievements that have produced a change in benefit of the institution, making efficient use of available resources and producing greater impact according to the capabilities of the organization. Financial, operating, technological and innovation aspects were assessed.

With no doubt, River Plate, the 4th best team in the world, regains a historic international leadership as a model institution in sports, cultural, social and educational terms. And now also as an organizational model.
